What is Leadership Coaching?

And does my business need it?

The culture of a business or organization trickles from the top, down. That’s why leadership sets the “tone” for the entire group.  How important is that to you?

I bet we can all agree, there are so many references, opinions and multitudes of leadership quotes out there, that the definition of an effective leader is bias.  One thing we can be clear on is the definition of leadership coaching.

The definition of Leadership Coaching is a developmental process where a leader gets tailored help from a coach to help them achieve a goal and become a more effective leader.

While certainly leaders are at the top of their game and are accustomed to achieving, when they are not seeing the desired outcome they want,  it is usually not more training they need.  A leadership coach is more of a supportive partner who is 100% committed to developing the leader rather than just fixing the problem. A coach walks right alongside the leader to guide as needed on the journey.

The coach’s role is to support in identifying and removing the obstacles that stand in the way of the leader or leadership team in attaining their goals. This is achieved through skilled questioning, deep listening and providing the space for true communication. Through this process, the leader can see a new, more clear perspective on what’s next on the success path. Not always are these considered obstacles in a “bad” way, they are a matter of perspective created by old beliefs, habits, or fears. Through a process of inviting introspection and self-reflection, the leader is empowered to lead him/her self to success in achieving personal and business goals.

True leadership is one who is able to lead themselves, then others will follow the lead. THAT is what leadership coaching can do for you!
